armatus tooth shedding

Hi All,

Just a cool observation, If you can blow up the pic, look at the pic with the Armatus eating which was taken yesterday, notice the left tooth the lower half is transparent while the right tooth is solid white. Look at todays pic he is getting a new solid white fang all within 24 hrs so far.

payara shed and grow new teeth all the time which is pretty cool it should turn wight and lock into place soon hope it doesn't lose the other when that one's back to normal

The teeth shed very often at this age. Once I actually saw the tooth fall out and within a few hours a new one was in place!

In less then two and a half months I know my armatus has shed his teeth at least five time.

its a bad pic but if u look closely u can see the tooth fell off right inside the feeders head. mike ur armatus is prob starting his growth spurt. feed him alot!

Yes I'm feeding him like a pig but the next morning he's skinny again...fast metabolism. I usually drop in 4 large feeders when the light goes off and there are none in the morning. and nothing else in the tank eats live.I just pulled out all my C/L's because I saw 1 had been shanked. The Armatus really leave some damage on a fish when they do that. Now all he has to live with is a 20'' T/T eel and a 24'' Black Aro.

hopefully he always gets along with the black aro. thats the tank i rely want. a black aro, armatus, and my rays. im also looking into getting a new camera so i can get some better quality pics. talk about fast metabolism, my armatus is eating one to two large comets a day now... its getting very expensive
