I have the choice between a GATF for $100 or an Armatus for $200, both are around 5 inches.

1. Which should I choose? Which would you choose?

2. Which fish is hardier?

3. Which is less skittish?

4. Which is an overall better and more rewarding fish in your opinion?

PLEASE HELP ME HERE.
Thanks.

Although i have 0 experience with those fish... i'm going to say the Armatus is a better bet?

Seems that the GATF is one of those fish not many, if any one has been able to keep long term... seems once they reach around 24"+ they seem to start having problems and passing away?

Although, as i said, i have no experience with either fish, so i'm just going purely by what i've read...

I think the Armatus is the best choice, disregarding that I currently keep one and have had others in the past. From hearing other people's experiences, both aren't hardy until they mature. Both are skittish until they grow older.. However I think the Armatus grows and matures much faster. I believe GATFs growth rate is something like .5-.75" a month.

Are you buying the Armatus from a LFS? Lately, both species have been coming down in price (more so with the ATFs) but $200 for a 5 incher seems a bit pricey.

none unless you have a massive tank set up already. otherwise i'd go for hte armatus as i believe GAFT don't belong in aquaria at all
