Today when i was observing my tank, I noticed that my armatus has gotton cloudy eye. I immediately did a 50% water change and put some aquarium salt in it afterwards. What else should I do? How long would it tak to heal? The eye seem a bit less cloudy now. How does cloudy start? I do 50% water changes one a week. Would the cloudy eye bacteria be caused because my dad always turns off my filters? When my dad comes into the room where my tank is in ,he turns off the filter because he thinks it's loud. My dad comes home 3 times a week but this time because of america thanksgiving, he stayed for 4 days. Would this be the culprit. Right now my dad still wouldn't let me turn on the filter when he's in the room. Would the bacteria spread ven though i did a WC?

PS: I alway notice that datnoids are the main victims of cloudy eye and become blind most of the time. How come this is so common for datnoids? no one bothers to cure them?

thanks

any experiences with cloudy eye would be helpful.

Get rid of Dad, eye should clear up.

lol. How serious does it have to be fora fish to become blind? I've seen so many datnoids that are blind.

i'd say the filters being turned off is def a problem, because if the media becomes dry the bacteria dies, not to mention just turning off the flow of water lets pollutants build up, and makes the water stagnant. i'd say do what your doing as far as waterchanges and adding salt, and stop turning the filter off, or get a more quiet filter, and add a water circulator/powerhead to the tank

another important point is whether the cloudy eye is from an injury, maybe he scraped against something, or whether its from poor or stagnant water... either way adding salt and doing waterchanges will help, but if its because theres not enough water movement you will need to add current to the tank

the eye has completely healed.

Good to hear, I did the same thing when my armatus had a slightly damaged eye from shipping. But you should also explain to your dad the extreme importance of keeping the filters running at all times. If he doesnt live at home with you full time, he shouldnt be unplugging them. Unless he owns the house, then hes the boss lol

kinda crazy how his eye cleared up in a day... glad he's better dude! Damn parents, they think cause they own the house they can tell us what to do! whats wrong with them! lol!
