I've always wanted to keep a group of Red Hooks and have an opportunity to score a fairly large one to get one started.I don't recall any member accounts of them cohabbing with armatus though....any thoughts?

Their color might be a problem armatus don't like silvery fish. That said silver dollars can take a greater beating then most fish

Yeah,Ive heard about their dislike of silvery fish...maybe body shape plays a part as well.?

I tried keeping dollars with my tat and scomb before. They ended up just being very expensive feeders. Keep in mind that a silver dollar is a natural prey item for a payara and that might be hard to overcome.

I knew it was just a matter of time before someone came through....No Red Hooks for the foreseeable future.

My army is about 17-18" and is with a school of thin bars. They get slashed every now and then, but seem to be fine so far. Been together since feb.

Buy I have seen them down big silver dollars before too :)

IMO silver dollars aren't a good dither combo with armatus. The silvery color is definite bait. I've kept large silver angelfish with my then 6 inch armatus and my armatus killed all of them. Many of them were blinded too. gruesome stuff.

whoops quoted a post by accident.
