I just got 2 saber tooth armatus. I 'm not sure if I'm right about the name. My lfs just called them saber tooth. They are about 4" each. $115 for the two. Did I get s----d? I just thought they were bad ass looking fish. Paul said they get pretty big. And arent as bad as they look. I don't know anything about these. any feed back will help. feeding, temp, community or not, etc.

those are scombs not armatus...

top out around 10-12" eat anything from shrimp to feeders.
like warm water, around 80-84
not so much community fish/

and for that price you probably got ripped off..
they usually go around 25-45 bucks around here..

think u got ripped off personally my lfs as 2 of them forsale at 89.99 apiece and they are identical to those =\

Probably not Armatus...so it's kind of pricey for those guys. There a lfs that I go to that are selling 8" ones for $100.

yeah it is scombs.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on them. Price a little high, that's life. I'm got mostly into cat fish, a jar, black aro, a couple rainbow bass. I just had to get a new fish TODAY. I'm having a hard time finding new ones of the mfs type.

I just picked up one about 3.5" today as well for $30....hopefully he can outsmart the gar and get big.

Ignorant as I am, what's a scomb? Can you give me the full proper name? Thanks

scombs = hydrolycus scomberoides.
the ones that tend to die at a foot for no reason.
they are the least hardy,and the least aggressive.
my old ones at almost any meaty foods.
but i only got one of them onto pellets. (very hard to do)
at that size i find them for around 30 USD.
