Fish are animals and are unpredictable. It could be any number of things, from disease, water quality, mood swing, etc. Sometimes fish behavior can't be figured out.

do a water change and see what happens

whats the temperature?

r u turning on any lights when u come in the room, sometimes if the fish are in the dark and u turn the lights on they will freak a little

where in the room is your aro tank positioned? is it a heavy traffic area? lots of things really can freak aros especially when theyre still young. you can also add in some peat extract to calm him down

I try to ease the room lights up, then the tank lights. I move in slow, even movements in front of the tanks, and when I enter the room, I pause in the doorway till he sees me. These fish can be jumpy, and you don't want him to hurt himself.

Something might have freaked it out.

What are its tankmates?

Silvers are very jumpy fish anyway particulary if they start to feel cramped inside their tank.

If it gets worse I would suggest taking out any sharp decor to prevent further injury and make sure EVERY gap ontop of the tank is covered. If there is a gap....they WILL find it.

well guys the cold floor took my buddy last night. he was liek i said a very calm aro and would always swim to me i nthe tank. he was about 17'' i na 210 and happy. but yea he just got freakd by something, he doesnt have bully tankamtes and this is the first time that hes actd like this. but you live and move on, but i must say i am quite sad. ud never think havign a fish for so long thta us get that attachd. like a dog i guess lol. well i was just givin an update. and to future owners. even rocks cant keep these amazing fish in if they want out.
Eric

Sorry about your fish man. Did you say that your fish pushed through a lid with rocks on it? I have been a little concerned about my fish hitting the lid with rocks on it. I "was" pretty sure that the rocks would keep him in, however, I was a little worried about the rocks toppeling off and hitting the glass on the way to the floor. Anyone heard of this happening?
