For the past 24 hours my large silver aro (just over 2', no drop eye, no overbite, perfect as far as i know) has been acting strange. I noticed for a few reasons that he had begun jumping above the water hitting the glass above.Ive had him for for almost 2.5-3 years i believe and he has never really been a big jumper or scared of me or activity. Only during feedind. But when he jumps he only tends to hit himself on the top middle of his body or the start of his fin. Casual movements from me or a friend causes him to jump above which never did before. And after or when there was activity he would sit in the far top corner of the tank in the current. He never sits there or really swims there at all. He only used to jump when feeding or thought it was food. And sometimes when i would move to fast or pop up he would get scared. But not its all the time. EVen as i was typing this thread he seems to get startled by somethign or one of the tank mates and jumped to the top. So just now i walked up to the tank like i do many times everyday and he swam away fast and jumped to hit the top. He has only losts a very few scales on the top of his back and torn a little bit of his fin where it starts. Going to the tank again, he just swims to the corner and stays at the very top of the water. I sleep next to the tank and always have people on both sides of the tank throughout the day. And recently i believe he hit the return pipe hard enough to bend it and crack bulkhead.
Could he be sick?
-doesn't look like it, and he is eating just fine.
Is my 7x2x2 210 gallon to small for him now?
-just a catfish and oscar in there. Island style with viewing on both sides and three pvc pipes in middle no other objects.
Could the water be bad?
-home made wetdry, water change pretty often, tap water filtered through 2 homewater filers, media is clean and carbon changed often, many pinhead guppies breeding in the sump (they eat the lil tiny worm things from raw food), uv sterilizer ran all the time, good amount of bubble blown in tank
Could it be its just emotional changing?
-Had to give away my last large because it kept attacking this one about 2 -3 months ago, always had and liked tankmates but nags at catfish time to time, always liked me and never really feared me at all, even walking up to the tank right now, nice and slow he swims away, used to come up to me asking for food.
Could it be something i feed him?
-stomach problems or soemthing?

Any ideas? or am is it just my fault for not putting him in a bigger tank by now?

Toaky, as a firts shot I would say it is feeling crammed...should consider giving her more space..

Well anytime fish start acting differently, first thing you should do is check your water parameters and check them against what is normal for the tank. Do you check your parameters weekly?
