I have a 220. would a 7" blackbelt cichlid pick on an aro that is more than double its size?

probably not

Probably not, unless it's a Jardini. I had a Jardini kill a cichlid that was a quarter his size. For no apparent reason, didn't eat him or anything. I think Jardinis will kill anything they view as a competitor for their food source.

Silver or Black though and you shouldn't have any problems. But just pay close attention to them, all fish are different.

the black aro is staying in only one half the tank... doesnt seem to be picked on but it's just weird... I also changed the aquascaping so maybe that's part of the problem

dont think so
