So, is it possible to house both an aro and a jaguar in the same tank without a whole lot of aggression??

Yes, recommend that the arowana is twice the length of the jaquar or any other larger aggressive type cichlid.

Good, cuz right now they're both small and there's no aggression, but I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't be a problem in the future, and I can almost guarantee that the aro is going to grow much faster than the jag

My old Jag almost killed my silver over night and the Silver was more than twice the Jags size. It's going to be hit and miss...just keep an eye on them.

How small is your arowana? It is also recommended that you keep small aros by themselves until 5 to 6" and with only select tankmates until they are 9 to 10". Most SA/CA cichlids do not fall into the "select" catagory.

Basically, you really shouldn't mix your aro with cichlids until it is close to 10".

What are ''select'' tankmates may I ask?

right now the aro is 5-6" and the jag is 3-4", he's also in there with some other cichlids such as an oscar, 2 jd's, gt, texas, and a pleco, I went off your advise bderick67 and put him in my 55 instead of leaving him in the 20L and so far so good, they don't even pay him any attention, and I assume he's talking about non aggressive community fish that pose no threat to the aro

Well yes the 55g is better then the uncycled 20. I would not have advised keeping that size aro with cichlids though. Unprepared for housing a young arowana you are, hopefully you will be lucky and things will work out.

I know, I wasn't as prepared as I should have been:nilly:, I just figured that since I only have 2 more payments on my 300g, and he was about as colorful as they come, I might as well pick him up before someone else does!
