Just wondering how much aros like strong current. Just bought a FX5 and was wondering if it's going to be too much for him. He's in a 180 with a sump and trickle filter. Give me your thoughts.
Thanks, Jim

My aro love strong currents, he tend to swim against it. The current from the fx5 isnt so strong so it should be perfect for your aro. BTW how big is your arowana?

i have my silvers in with a fx5 and an odassy 700 for a total of 1300gph or so in my 180gal.

i'm a noob but i want to chime in too, i keep silvers in a 135 gallon tank i just recently bought a hydor koralia evolution 750 wave maker that moves 750 gph of water... my aros love it they swim in front of the wave maker and they remind me of people running on a tread mill. i've read on some archived threads that its really good for the tank and the aros, for the tank it moves the detritus around so the filters can pick them up and for the fish, i have read about fish having a greater appetite since they burn more calories eating... some people even went as far as to claim that fish in water with current grow more muscular vs fish in tanks without current. i dont know if this is true... the other claim i've heard is that in aro community tanks this is beneficial for lessening aggression as they spend their time swimming instead of arguing amongst each other. so far this has proven true...
