OK, have a question....
I have a foot long Silver Aro and he is always freaked when myself or my wife walk by the tank or stand near it. Not enough (all the time, sometimes) that he is trying to jump out or run himself into the glass.. But you can just tell he is freaked..
Its a 150 gal tank (just a starter grow out, he will be going in my 250 or new 400 later), has two retic rays and two silver dollars in it. He just always seems freaked... I can understand him being like this when Im cleaning or water changes.. but it seems like its all the time. I have another Aro in a different tank, and he is not like that..
Would there be any reason he is like this or is it just his attitude...

any idea?

Got the same problem too but mines a little younger and hopefully it grows out of it. Sorry I couldn't help. (Just a nub at arrows but done lots of reshearch)

hi.. how long have you had this aro for? if you've jus picked up, the aro needs to get used to the setup.. it will def take some time.. the things that you can do for now is to not go very close to the tank and leave the lights on in the tank at night or a small room light at night(much better than tank lights in my opinion).. and if there is any deco please remove it.. but if you've have it for a long time.. then beats me.. i have 4 aros.. they used to move away from me when they were much younger(smaller) while i clean.. now they dont even bother..

If I remember, its maybe been about 3 months that Ive had this Aro. Eats great, no other problems. Just always acts this way. I have been leaving the lights off 24/7 except for a few hrs in the day. There is still plenty of light during th day, the sunlight that comes into the windows.. but dont use the tank lights much anymore to help... Maybe in time, he will calm down and get use to us.. The two Aro's I have I got within a week apart, so both are around the same size.. Diferent tanks, one is calm and this one is skiddish...

Maybe that's the exact reason why ur aro behaving that way, not enough rest..because the light pretty much on most of the time instead of trying to simulate days and night time.
Is the other exposed to the very same enviromental, location and ambient not just on different tank?

i've HAD the same problem with my new wolf fish. don't worry. after a few days if not one day, the aro will adapt to his new environment.

i just got two new aro about 6inch they adapted pretty fast and starting to get used to seeing me

NO, I said I leave the tank lights OFF 24/7 except for a few hrs a day, if that. The only light they get is from sun light comming into the windows of my house. At night, its total darkness.. The other Aro is in the exact kind of enviroment. Same size tank, same subsrtate, same tank mates, same lighting times.. I stopped using my lighting when I noticed him freaked out alot, figured it would help him till he got use to everything... But its 3 months now and still this way

He is second in command in that tank. The rays are in charge. He will not go near them at all. If they climb the walls, he stays away.. Otherwise the middle and upper part of the tank is his. The Silver dollars sometimes follow him around, but they get rt out of his way if he is comming.. He is a great Aro. Beautiful and strong.. Just to skiddish... More than others Ive had or seen

Ive had these aro's for 3+ months now. One does great, one seems to be always freaked out when we are close to the tank. I have a powerhead I turn on about two hrs before I go to bed, then shut it off again when I do go to bed. So that cant be it either. There is current in the tank, but not much except when I turn the powerhead on. Reason I turn this powerhead on only for a few hrs a day is its usually about an hr after feeding I do this. Any stuff small stuff left on the bottom of the tank is then picked up in the current and finds it way to my filters to get filtered out. This helps keep my tank cleaner. I do this with all my ray tanks. Works really well to help pick up all the little stuff they leave behind thats not eaten.

Only thing I can think of is he wants more space and less traffic.. The two Silver Dollars are usually were he is, so it might piss him off. I may try pulling them for awhile and putting them into another tank and see how he does then. Only thing I can think of to do to help...

Could you please try a night lamp in the room through the night.. some aros freak out.. some dont.. the light usually calms them down cos they can see a lil more.. cheers.. it def helped all my aros.. now they dont mind but i usually have like a zero watt bulb around..
