How many of you get bit when you stick your hands in the tank? Aros and I seem to have this Love/Hate relationship going on...... they love to bite me and I hate it when they do! I just got bit on they forearm right below the elbow while trying to hand feed the gar in our 700 gallon display. The aro is about 16" with a pretty impressive bite radius. After he got me, both 18" plus Marmoratus cats, the 12" TSN, the damn gar and several cichlids joined in and sampled me as well! I gonna have start wearing chain mail to feed the ungrateful bastards!

This was no accident, he swam up to my arm, looked at it and CHOMP!:D The other fish were accidents.

Depends on the size of the aro and how much they want flesh:D. Our old 30" one bit me on the hand and that HURT, this little guy left some blood and road rash. It didn't really hurt but it wasn't pleasant either. Their teeth feel like really coarse sand paper, with quite a bit of pressure behind it, being dragged across your skin.

my big guys get excited during feeding, and have taken mouthfulls of my hand, fingers, and arms. when i stick my whole hand in to feed the rtc, they jus dart n snap at me sometimes haha.

but never when im jus cleaning the tank.

No, they don't have the teeth or the pressure to get through bone, but I'm sure a big one could really cut you bad if he wanted to.

they have teeth kinda, more like sand paper teeth but bigger ones have sharper mouths.

bite your finger off? probabbly not ever

mine bit me once when i was feeding it. guess my fingers looked like food from below. didn't hurt much, but did scare the **** outta me.
