I am looking at an aro comm.
TANK DIMENSIONS
PROPOSED:
2400mm x 1200mm (wide) x 800 mm High

I currently have a VIP
red. It is the only one and it is 45cm,
I was thinking, of coming this red
with an xb, 3 to 4 silvers and 1 to 3 black aros.
Total approx. 7 to 9 aros.

What approach is best from experienced commers?
Should I grow the
smaller aros in a smaller tank (1200Litres)
Put the big red in the big tank
and then when the smaller aros become of size, put them all together in the Big
tank?
OR the other way around,
Grow the smaller aros in the big tank,
and leave the big red in 1200L tank, then when the smaller aros are of size, ptu
the red in to the comm?

Hey mate.. hope ya well.. Aro communities are generally a hit or a miss.. usually when inexperienced fish keepers try to keep them in a tank too small.. well the tank sorted out in your case.. it might work.. the newer additions.. how big are you goin to get them at? And you got to make sure they are more or less the same size.. I'd suggest you move the community into the larger tank and the VIP Red in the 1200 L tank.. Your Red is close to 18".. if you can get all the other aros at more or less the same size you could prob try moving them all into the larger tank in one go.. This is my belief.. aro aggression is purely the race for food.. being surface feeders.. the dominant one tends to push the others down.. so plenty of food should keep them mellow.. and yes dither fish that would not fit in their mouth should def help.. all the best.. post some pics of the red and the new tank mate.. cheers..
