Knee deep in fish
Ive had my silver aro(it was sold as a rainbow or something like that its really red)for a few weeks and he is a pain to feed he is about 7 or 8in ivebeen feeding him shrimp on a clip hanging through a SMALL slot in the cover and hikari gold large cichlid but he wont eat anything not floaing or if anything in my room is moving,me my wife cat ect.I dont have any experience with small picky aros so any help from seasoned aro owners would help how much how often to feed ect

fish learn from experience and hunger. if you would like to feed him sinking food, then keep feeding sinking food until he learns to eat it off the bottom. once he's hungry enough, he'll eat it.

as for your cat or wife moving around, your fish will get over it... some day.

Aros can be very picky when they're small, but voracious as they get bigger. I would suggest continue as usual, maybe try some different food like blodworms etc. But patience will be your reward.

Good luck!

also feed him some frozen silversides and freeze dried krill..try and give a varied diet especially when he growing.. and maybe some azoo arow pellets ..mine loves them.

I couldnt get mine to eat any type of sticks or pellets. So congrats on that!!

I was feeding mine crickets. Then I tired of trying to keep crickets alive. Got him to eat bloodworms but got tired of that expense. Now he eats chicken livers and hearts. Its easy and very cheap.

He also sounds like he is still a bit stressed..sometimes it takes awhile for them to feel confident.

mine also wont touch any pellets, havent tried massivore as cant find anywhere in the UK that stocks it..

I gave up trying to feed mine pellets. It would eat freeze-dried krill, frozen bloodworms, and turkey. Didn't try anything else but different pellets and frozen beefheart.

my silver arowana who NEVER ate pellets absolutely adores hikari food sticks made for surface eating carnivores. give that a go...
