So after doing my water change yesterday I absentmindedly forgot to replace the weights I use to keep the lids shut on the tank, and I am sitting at my desk a few feet away from the tank. I hear a loud slam, and I stand up and the aro is on top of the tank dancing around! He flip flops a bit and slips out of my grasp and into the dog's fluffy bed, and then flopped onto the floor

I scooped him up with my large net, and held him in the water till he calmed down a little and then he swam away like nothing ever happened. Son of a gun scared the crap out of me. Luckily he flopped into the dogs bed (with the dog in the bed mind you, but he didn't seem the wiser as I scooped the fish up immediately.)

The aro did leave behind a trail of reddish brown mush. Which I can only assume was poop, as he was scared sh1tless falling from that height. lol. But just another reminder I guess that these guys love to jump even if can mean certain death. Weights are back on and he is doing fine. *whew*

Anything I should look for in the meantime? He ate fine a few hours later, and is swimming just fine, no damage that I can see....

He should be fine. My Almost 26" silver aro one time jumped out in the middle of the night. I got woke up to my lady yelling at me that he jumped out. As my luck would have it he landed behind the tank, lets just say getting him out was a pain, half asleep and trying to get around all the filters under the tank. Put him back he acted like nothing happened other than a few scrapes and missing scales all was fine.

The dog turned and looked at the fish, sniffed it as it was flopping around, and turned his head back, and went back to sleep. Pretty funny considering it practically landed on the dog pretty much, and the fish is almost as long as he is (its a fox terrier x chihuahua mix)

My 6 incher jumped behind my 125 gallon tank. Needless to say with half an inch of clearance between the wall and the tank stand, I couldn't get to him.

i had a 24" silver jump when i was doing a water change mind you the tank sits 6 feet off the ground and it cleared half the kitchen and almost hit my girlfriend in the back lol picked him off the floor and back in the tank he went with no problem. thay are more resilient then people give them.
