I have been feeding my aro salad shrimp (from the supermarket). He has been eating a few a day, and he hasnt eaten for the last 2 days. Is this normal. The silver aro is about 7 inches and looks to be in good health. Any advice or experiance is apreciated. Thank you

Raw shrimp or prawns are better, I get frozen ones from the market. Defrost and shell, remove tail aswell. I wash them and cut into smaller pieces and feed. To save time thaw enough or a few nights at a time and refigerate between feedings.

I use market frozen shrimp as well. He is about 20-22" right now I feed every other day sometimes he hammers them down like there is no tomorrow and other times he just gracefully swims by and opens his mouth I guess it depends on their mood. Peel the shell and thaw them out definately

I don't think not eating for a couple of days is that big a deal. If it goes 4 or 5 days, I would be concerned. He may not be hungry enough to eat food he doesn't like much. My aro would have to be starving to eat shrimp, just doesn't like it. However, it'll eat thawed silversides like crazy. Every fish is different.

I had one that size just stop eating for a week , then start back up like normal. Sometimes I guess they feel fat and decide that they dont want to eat.

My Aro is a total pig but he doesn't like the prawns when they sink, he won't go to the bottom for them. How to you keep them from sinking long enough for Mr. Piggy to eat them?

Tongs sold for food prep in the cooking section of your favorite store work well. Welcome back! :D How big is your baby now? Mine's getting up around 17" or 18".

ONce your aro is large enough to take whole market shrimp, don't peel the shell. THey can eat, and digest the shell fine. It is the little spike on the end of the tail that needs to be removed.
