aro fin rot

My buddy has a small silver aro and it got fin rot pretty bad. This was like 2 months ago and the fish is eating and seems otherwise healthy, but the fins arent growing back. What can he do?

Is is definately fin rot? Was it in a tank with other fish that might have nipped the fin off? My puffer ate my aros tail fin down to muscle. I pulled the aro out but in 2 weeks the fin was perfect again. Is the problem getting worse?

It has no tankmates. I havent seen the fish in a while, so i dont know if its getting worse. All he told me is that it isnt getting any better. I'll try to post some pics and get some more specifics on water conditions and temp ect.

whats the aro size tank size and filtration?
if all of the pre requisites are met then I would up the water changets, vary the diet, and add melafix.

and remember to pull the carbon if you are using it.

Could be feeder fish spreading diseases, my lfs had feeders that were sick and my poor aro, got pretty sick....
