Hey guys. I know absolutely nothing about arowanas and have willed myself barely to look at a picture of them unless it can fit in my tank. So, are there any arowanas that could live in a 180 gallon tank with rays for life? Foot print is 6' by 2' by 2'. I like the shape of Asians but they're illegal in my country. (U.S.A.) so I was thinking maybe a Malaysian green?

Malaysian green is a asian aro. You'd be looking at a Jardini from austrailia. Many people consider a 180g minimum for a jar, though I think 72x30x24" would be more proper.

So would I be frowned upon for putting one in a 180 for life or would I just be "that guy" with the ever so small 180 gallon tank who decided to torture a fish in it? Because some of you say that suggested tank sizes are miles too small. And I don't really know arowana keepers, but that's how ray keepers are. But you can't blame them. They have experience firsthand what those guys can produce.

jardini is realistically the only option. silvers get too big (nothing wrong with upgrading!) and africans can be tough to take care of

Ya. Jardinis are pretty too. I looked up some pics of Africans and to me they barely look like arowanas at all.

Funny you said that. African arowanas actually aren't "arowanas". They're more closely related to arapaima's (take a good look at them, you can see it) and is a filter-feeder (feeds on plankton).
