aro got hurt(lost scales), help!

ok, so one of my new aro was hurt due to other mates picking on him. I wasnt home to monitor him, hes about 6 inches.(black aro)

I already seperated him, he's breathing hard and spazzing out. I added more salt and some stress coat. And raised the tempurature to 84-86

He lost a lot of scales, i can see like some redness. Is there anything else i should do?

Water changes should help him for scale damage.

don't worry, scales grow back. just keep the water clean, warm and the fish well fed and calm

Dim the lights too and leave him alone. Keep his stress to a minimum.

turn lights off so he can chill out. and prob should go into the room a lot if you can help it.

My aro lost some scales before as well and they have all grown back with no problems. I bought a 12" tinfoil barb that had 1/3 of its scales missing from being kept with a green aro in a 30 gallon tank (!?) at my lfs for $10. He has grown back all of his scales as well and is a really nice fish now. Your aro should recover nicely over time.

scales will grow back quickly, but they'll take a while to color up. The salt and stress coat should be plenty to keep the infection down. The last thing you want to do is just start dumping in unneeded meds.
