Alright I'm purchasing a 240 gallon tank 8x2x2 and I was just wondering what, if any arowanas I could put in it? I don't want to put such an awesome fish in a tank thats to small.

A Silver for it's entire life? No!

you could put a comm of other aros there except silvers.. but not for their entire life.. the length is good but the width would be a little hindrance.. but other than that, a monster tank suited for a monster fish.. lol

i believe its better for the width of the tank to be bigger, mabye can try for 8x3x3 or 8x2.5x.2.5. I know lots of people switch from 4x2x2 to 4x2.5x2.5 after 2 years when their aros grow bigger as the aros will have difficulty turning in a 4x2x2 than a 4x2.5x2.5.A 8x2x2 can put 3 to 5 silvers in it. Depends on how often you want to change water and how good ur filtration is.

A silver aro would do fine in a 240g 8x2x2 foot tank up until it is around 30 inches long. With proper care it will be about 5 years until it is that long, although it could grow quicker.

An aro community, what type aros you thinking?

You can definitely keep an aro in that tank.

There a plenty of people who keep silvers in a 240 and there are also plenty that keep them in smaller tanks.

A silver would live comfortably in that tank for quite a few years. If you could go with a tank that has 30" of width that would be ideal.

If you can upgrade to that 500-600 gallon tank in the next few years you will have the ideal arowana setup and this 240 will provide a great grow out tank for your aros.
