My Arowana got swim bladder/parasite yesterday, I treated the tank with Marcyn, but those damn medications don't do sh*t. Today he floating the the top hes still breathing but by the time you read this he'll prob be dead. The funny thing is, is that im sick too I have pneumonia, could it be that I got him sick (my room and fishtank are in the same room, and I know fish... well most fish.... don't have lungs)? Well it kinda sucks but this way when I go off to college my sister won't have to take care of it (knowing her she'll leave the top open or something).

I guess the moral of the story is... don't let their main diet be feeder fish..

Well it's not my first loss, and I'm pretty sure its not going to be my last :)

...and think of the positive side, what kind of new and interesting fish can I get now...???

Sorry to hear dude.

In the future, you don't have to use Aquarium salt. Regular table salt is fine but make sure it has no iodine added.

why no iodine?

if it has swim bladder prob, you can still save it. It wont die just like dat. Wad are the signs other than floating/inability to swim properly? For swim bladder prob, use 0.2% salt and 0.3% epsom salts and turn up temperature. epsom salts at higher dosage acts as a laxative and help clear things up if it's due to trapped air/food blockage. However, if the swimbladder prob is due to bacteria, u need medicine like interpet no. 13. oh yeah and Epsom salts can be gotten at pharmacies.

Poisonous

Just use regular table salt. Not Iodized Salt.

Ya I always buy Non Ionized Salt if I cant get to the LFS for AQ Salt

dont give up hope, ive had fish float, lay on the bottom, i go to grab them cause i think they are dead and they swim away. fur sure dont feel guilty, pure coincidence that he sick cause u are, unless you puked in the tank.
