OK so my jar aro is coming home on Saturday. I'm really excited and I think I'm pretty well prepared.

My question is about feeding arose. I read the sticky but I wanted just a little more detail just to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. I plan to do my best to feed primarily food sticks. Really I'm sorta wondering where to buy some of the other things.

The sticky says "market shrimp" is that like the pre-cooked frozen shrimp for shrimp cocktail from the supermarket?

It also says night crawlers. From the bait shop? I assume I'll need to rinse the mud off really well, but any other preparation they will need? any other food from the bait shop?

Anchovies are also recommended. Does this refer to the ones in a can?

My last question is about live foods. Years ago i had a bearded dragon who mostly ate crickets, i would quarantine them with very good food "gut loading" them before feeding to my lizard. Is this a good idea for the live foods i feed to my fish? What should i use to gut load crickets, goldfish (or other fish) and worms?

Thanks so much for any advice.

If you can feed your jar on food sticks that would be fun in itself. The rest is just a bonus.

Shrimp is raw kind (remove head and tail spike ... and shell if the jar is still small).

Fresh anchovies - not canned ^^

the way you prep crickets for your lizard is ok for aro

Good luck and post pix when you do get your jar

trust me, if youc an get them on pellets, its better. once they go to shrimps, they never switch or hard to switch.

but cooked or raw shrimp with no head - stuffed with pellets is a good one, i use that formula and my aros are fat:D

yes market srhimp from super market,if u got question on where to buy fish food PM me

market shrimp is the raw frozen shrimp you get at the market.
night crawlers are the ones in your bait shop, just rinse off the mud and its good.
anchovies can either be fresh or frozen, no canned becuase they are usually way too oily.
For crickets, gut load with carrots or pellets, or something else nutritional, but i would only recommend crickets as occasional treats or for aros that are refusing food.

I'm experiencing the same thing with my new aro. It was eating food sticks but totally went off them when i introduced market prawns into it's diet.
What i do now is gut load mealworms with cereal and hikari food sticks before feeding to the aro. He is eating alot more now that he has taken a liking to live food (eats around 10-15 mealworms at a time) where as before he would only eat 4-5 pellets max at each feeding.
