My 22" Silver hasn't eaten in a week. He is about 2and a half years old and has never done this before. I feed him shrimp and Tilapia. For some reason he shows no sign of interest in the shrimp for a week. I haven't tried anything else yet. Any comments would be appreciated

dont worry my arowana went on for months without eating. they wont starve themselves to death so u have nothing to worry about. unless it is really sick. make sure that its back part of its body sinks below its front portion of the body. if it does, ure arowana is healthy.

sometimes arowana have a tendency to fast when their been overfeed for a long time try other foods ....this is assuming your water parameters is fine!!!!
:iagree: Though I haven't had much experience with it myself I have heard of hunger strikes being fairly common with aros. Just make sure you keep an eye on him/her and the water. Keep an eye on the way s/he swims/buoyancy complexions, irritation, fins, cloudy eye etc. If everything stays fine it could just be a hunger bout, maybe a little bit of bowel back up. You can try other foods like worms, large crickets, grass hoppers or beetles... Maybe something will spark a feeding. Good luck and keep us posted.;)

try some crikets :naughty:

Didn't try crickets yet how long should I wait till I pollute my tank with some live feeders and try that? He still show no interest in anything. He looks healthy still but his belly looks small

i would give him a little time, cpl more days and keep a close eye on him. if ou see anything bad then act on it soon. if when u try again in a cpl days and still no eating try feeders goldys, worms, and stuff, goo luck. mine didnt eat for a week an half when i 1st got one a while back, i think its bc one fay he ate another fish and was very full. anway goo luck

The aro has been also doing this wierd thing. He has done it before but now seems more noticable. He stops swimming and opens his mouth like he is trying to spit something out. His colors are fine and still swimming fine. How would I know if he had a parasite of some sort? I have been treating the tank with Mela and Pimafix for a couple days now just in case something is wrong

Still nothing been a long time no food. I treated with coppersafe to make sure there were no parasites still nothing. If anyone has any more ideas that would be great. If not I will have a 300gallon tank for sale real cheap if I don't throw a rock through it after he dies
