I recently, ( past month) moved my Aro about 300 miles, from sea level to 1800 ft. The water is much harder here and the ph as well, have been using city water and reverse osmosis, with cycle, stresscoat, little bit if aquarium salt, per label for freshwater and melafix, He was used to a steady 7.0-7.2 ph, now 7.5 it has been higher. He stopped eating for 5 days (10 month 15" silver)after nosediving the bottom and trying to jump out. He injured his head until it bled a little, he finally is eating krill, now Hikari carnivore. He's pale and seems like he's sick, but I think he's pulling out of it slowly, and a good canister filter system should be here anyday. I see improvement but am worried about him still, I know him very well and my friend is sore, exhausted and been through a lot. I keep the tank lights mellow, the area mellow, he has a pleco and angelfish for tankmates. He elso went thru an algae bloom, but now the tank is clear, just a little amber hue due to the tanin.
