I have a 300gl 8ftx24" tank what would be a good type of aro for this tank? I would preferably like to get one that stays on the smaller side as far as aro's go.

I would like to do one or two peacockbass and aro, and a stingray. Please bounce all thoughts off of me.

Nice tank!!!!Smaller of the aros, well then go for the Australian Arowana, also known as Jardini.......The South American Aro gorws wellover 3.5feet......But the Australians keep more compact and the attitudes are way more responsive.......:naughty:

A jardini would be your best bet, they stay the smallest (for an aro) they are similar to an Asian aro but the scales and colours are a bit different. Only prob with jardinis is that most are very aggressive but many people also have them in communities.

Good chance that a jardini will ruin your chance at a community they are know to not be good tankmates, but there's always exceptions. There is also the leichardti another aussie aro, but not real sure on the temperament compared to a jardini.

I would go with a black arowana, most likely it will grow to around 30", though at that size you may find that your 300g is too narrow for a fish that size. Silvers are cheaper then blacks, IMO they grow quicker and are bigger, not longer just more bulk and at 30 plus inches definitely your tank will definitely too narrow.

My silver was 26" in my 300g. It was lightly stocked. He was fine in there for about 4 years or so. Jardinis are aggressive, blacks don't seem to grow as rapidly as silvers.

my 26" silver is fine in my 300g, he has no problem turning around. Im sure if he was 30"+ he would still not have a problem.
