A friend of mine gave me a green aro & when it was released into my tank, it doesn't swim right..
It swam at a 45 degree angle downwards with its tail floating and it cant seem to swim down..
Few hours later, it swam at a 90 degree downwards.. then started swimming upside down, rolling back to normal, then upside down again..
I don't know what is happening.. It was still swimming fine at my friend's place..
I tried lower the water level till the water is about the same level as the aro & put a divider by its side to prevent it from turning upside down.. & I've also changed the water & bumped the temp to 30 degree celcius..
Not sure if I'm doing it right..
Please advise, thanks..

how long was the transport from ur friends tank to urs? maybe thats why ur friend gave it to u caz it was having problems?

when fish swim belly up that is usually a really bad sign. Did you friend use calming substances on the fish? If he did, they do float funny after i think. If not, i would be worried.

Dont think there is much you can do except wait and see

About 10 minutes drive.. No, it was still swimming normal the day before the transport..

No calming meds used, just net & bag..
I'm keeping the water level the same as the aro height & changing 50% water everyday..
It does seem to be slightly better today..
Should I increase the water level everyday or wait until its "fully" healed?

From what I understand, if precautions are not taken to protect the air bladder, they can die from the move. I lost a 24" Aro this way. He was fine for a couple of days and then just up and died. The second try I took a lot more care.

Your aro had the same symptoms?
Man, this really s**ks... I think I'm going to have another sleepless night tonight...........

I'm also wondering if it's necessary to add epsom salt?
I've read that some people use epsom to aid their fish but I don't quite understand the purpose of it..
