I have been using tetra black water in my aro tanks with good results, and Have been hearing about a tetra brand called Arowana vital, Is anyone using it? Also, Azoo Arowana vitamins, I was wondering if I should switch over and try one. If anyone has used these or other types please supply your info.

i use vitachem, i add it to the shrimp, pellets and anything else i feed

awhile back i used a cocktail of vitachem, zoe and garlic guard for about a month

then she stopped eating started resting on the bottom every now and then then 3 weeks went by and she released eggs. im not saying thats what made her gravid, but its just my theory.

i wouldnt add anything to the water, its a waste.

its best its add to the food, soak and then consumed.

some say you dont need suppliments and that a varied diet is the key.

the point of variety is to get all the nutrients a fish needs that isnt in a single food item.

but even that has its gaps, so suppliments should be used to fill in the nutrients gaps the foods dont have.

plus i think its the reason why fish alway die for no reason, water is good, temp is ok, no sudden swing in that or pH, oh but what about the diet? nutrition is a very seriously over looked topic, its not how much you feed but the quality of what you feed

great thread bro:thumbsup:

I aggree 100% with DeL. I make my own beefheart by cutting it into small chunks and vacuum sealing it in the fridge overnight. I then freeze it. I also add vitachem to all other frozen foods as it thaws before feeding. In the wild these fish know what food gives them the vitamins they are lacking and can fullfill that need. In captivity we have to try and give it to them the best we can.. a varied diet with vitamins is a very good start.

actually they dont

cmon dodge you think a fish actually thinks about that

if its food: its impulse to strike, no thinking nessesary.

unless its something above the water, then alittle coordination is needed to make the successful kill/catch.

I disagree. every animal knows what it needs.. whitetail will dig into the earth in search of certain minerals just like a cow knows to lick a salt block. I don't think fish are as impulsive as most people think.. just my 2 cents.

an even better way to do it is to defrost it completely add the suppliment and then toss it in the fridge to soak overnight, then feed the next day.

i do that with my shrimp, and then after the process they are the yellow from the vitachem.

meaning that stuff is absorbed into the shrimp rather than just covering the outside

great idea!! never thought to do that.. I'll give it a try

arowana vital is a good product, i think ive seen it in the Awakening of the Dragon aro book. but i dont usually use suplements, just feed with variety, live feed mostly. tried a few bottles of Sera Fishtamin before though

not with arowana

the bottom line: if its edible it is consumed. its not like they have a choice on what to eat in the wild, if you find it, you either take it or starve.

I think that if you think about what you are feeding then 9 times out of 10 you can provide most of what your fish need by varying the diet. My personal belief is that a varied diet of fresh, live, and prepared foods will provide everything your fish need. I keep atleast 10-12 prepared foods, 3-5 frozen foods on hand at all times, and I also supplement with live foods, like black worms, ghost shrimp, and feeders (very rarely). In order to give my fish a healthy diet.
