ok so i got bout a 6 to 8 inch aro and it wont eat anything but the feeder minnows, im trying to diversify his diet but he wont touch the cichlid pellets i have or the flakes (which i didnt expect him too). how do i get him to eat the pellets so he can have some diversity in his diet? i dont want to starve him till he eats pellets but that seems like what im gonna have to do unless you guys know of a better way. thanks

Starve it.

I have a tub of superworms that I toss pellets into to gut load them and then feed that to my aro, also feed mp and tilapia chunks, seems to take those readily when not given a choice.

starve it.

i started giving my guys some mp's and fish i get from the market now they quit eating pellets. now i gotta starve them again.

There's no other way then to cut off it's source of food for another.
It only likes minnows right now so you have to force it to try what's offered to it.

My silver was raised on feeders at the store I got her from. No food for 3 days when I brought her home, then started feeding freeze dried krill/hikari food sticks. After a week or so I removed the krill from the feedings and now she happily accepts the sticks.

I feed mine Hikari massivore, and aro sticks along with freeze dried krill, silversides, and night crawlers as an occasional treat. Try massivore. Mine can't resist these pellets. You could put some concentrated garlic (should be able to get at LFS) on the pellets before throwing them in. Many fish love garlic and I've gotten a few fish to eat different items in this manner.
