Do any of you keep Aros with central american cichlids? If so, which Aro, how many, what size, etc? Any tips or advice for someone starting up a tank soon? This will be a 300+ gallon tank.

This can work and usually does, cichlids need to not be big enough to bully the aro, and should not be so small that they may become lunch.

You may have to grow in seperate tnaks until the sizes work out. Are you thinking of starting with all juvinile fish or do you have some of these already?

i have a jar-15" with a gt-6", jd-6" and a 7" female festae in a 85g rite now. i'm moving 'em into a 180g this summer when i move. i a couple of other fishes in the tank also, but as far as the cichlids and the jar are concerned, they live with each other just fine. i wouldn't say peacifully, because the jar bullies all the other fishes around. chasing 'em, biting 'em (or tries to). however, i provide sufficient shelter for the cichlids, like drift wood, big plants, caves...etc. this way, even when the jar chases 'em, they don't get hurt.

I don't have any of the fish yet. Don't even have the tank yet. :)

As far as what size they will be, it will kind of depend on what will be available locally when I start. Since the Aro will be the hardest to find, I'll start with him and go from there.
