Arowana 13 inches diet change- need help

Hi, i have a xb 13inches size. Till now he is on hikari food sticks.
But trying to change the diet to hikari jumbo carnisticks, as those are good for bigger fishes.
But, my arowana just eats it and then vomits it back after chewing, does not swallow it.
Have been trying to feed it since 4 days now.
same, what should i do?

Did you try breaking it in half or soaking it a while before feeding it? The texture is different and it's not used to it.

try mix the carnisticks with the food sticks so he will eat both thinking they are carnisticks

he eats carnisticks eagerly, might be coz of good smell, but does not swallow it, just vomits it back after chewing it.

It eventually will take it, you would need to keep using new food also a 13 inches aro won't die without food for a month so you shouldn't worry too much...give it time to use up body stored excess fat

Today i gave him some hikari food sticks.
But, now planning to starve him for a week or 2.
Technically speaking im not starving him, just giving the same food hikari jumbo carni sticks again and again.
This time ill try it for 2 weeks.

I have a ~7" Lei that I've been trying to get him to eat more Hikari foodsticks as well. I feed him a variety but at the end of the day, I want this to be his staple (then maybe the Hikari Jumbo). I find that tossing in one-by-one he's more likely to eat AND swallow. As soon as he hit's about the 4-5 stick he starts to spit out too. Interestingly he really likes the Hai Feng pellets I feed the blood parrots. The two parrots actually like everything lol...
