I know that they are notorious for jumping out attempting to jump out but I just picked one up about two weeks ago and over the past couple of days he likes to suddenly Flash by really fast sometimes hitting the walls and going to the top and trying to jump he's doing this a little more than what I'm used to is this normal arowana Behavior he is in a 300 gallon tank and is only 14 inches

A lot of Aros can be very skitish when you first get them.. I have found silvers to be worse in my case
Not having a lot of traffic in the room makes it worse and takes longer for them to settle

If possible with your lights.. what I used to do to my silver that was also very skitish, I used to dim the lights at night and not switch completly off so she didnt startle when I switched on in the morning
If you cant dim the tank lights, switch on the light in the room first for a few minutes in the morning before you switch the tank lights on.
It helped us... hope it works for you

When I got my asian aro, it used to stay alone in the top right side corner of the tank all the time, looking outside. Now he keeps swimming around graciously the entire breadth and depth of the tank throughout the day not worried about anyone approaching his tank. And wags his tail like a dog and swiftly move here and there during feeding time, till he is full. Few weeks back, I also got bitten while I was cleaning the tank, he thought my finger was his prawns for a sec. :-)

Give it some time and they will get adjusted, things should be fine.
