So I was in my LFS the other day and mentioned I was getting a 140gallon tank and planned to put a
Silver arowana
2 Senegal bichir

The reply I got was to leave the tank bare not even a low lying piece of driftwood for the bichirs because the arowana could panic and rip scales off

Is this true does anyone have any experience with this ?

My Jardini broke a lot of heaters(till I got the metal ones) but never got near the driftwood. They're pretty smart fish and don't collide with much. I think mine was breaking heaters to tell me to feed him? Be more weary of him trying to jump out than smacking into stuff.

I'm well aware of their jumping ability and that's what I was most worried about but when he mentioned the driftwood thing when I was describing my setup I wasn't sure about that
