I'm sorry if this is a total noob question.
actually its not a question but a sad observation.

I was at this stupid pet supply store in Michigan that I buy my dog's food at and they had a wicked looking juvi Arowana.

This is the kind of store that should stick to selling guppies and goldfish but lately I noticed they started selling marine fish and some other monsters like unspecified arows and Pbass.

So they Had this nice juvi Arow that caught my eye. I know I don't have the tank space to consider one, but I still think there cool and paid attention to it.

It looked pristine, was sort of pink, about 5 inches long and surprisingly healthy.

Came back a few weeks later to get some more dog food and it was covered with ich and sickly, looked like it was going to die.

Why don't these stupid stores get a clue and stick to what they can sell?

btw it was priced at $70, thats a good price right?
this stupid store allways has great prices but I don't buy anything because I know better. for example they has Congo tetras for $1.99 each and I just paid $11 at my favorite lfs.

****** !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

never buy anything from PSS, it will die
i bought a flag tail $25
weird pleco $30
gold nuget pleco $15
they all died with in two weeks

I might have bought all of the Congo's at less than two bucks each. They are among the most expensive tetras here.

I have purchased 99% of my fish from psp...never had a problem.. I have 2 retic stingrays, 3 pictus cats, 3 black tip shark, and a rope fish, all alive and kickin!!! although i have to agree with the ich story, ive seen some pretty bad fish there, just when you get yours home, qt and treat and you wont have a problem...side note, the psp in toledo had 2 silvers a week ago, 4 inchers, for 20 bucks a piece.

I don't think you understand what your talking about. I manage the Animal Dept. at the pet supplies plus in Elyria, Ohio. I am always bringing in wierd ****, different types of plecos, odd knives, Not usually aro's becuase they get to large for most peoples tanks, and even rays. Most of my exotics I've ordered from my store and they live perfectly. I got my silver there at 3", hes now 18" and is doing fantastic. STOP BLAMING THE STORE, BLAME THE STAFF. I know the one I work at has an extremely knowledgable staff and our tanks look pristine. People here on MFK have even complimented our store in a thread. So again, its not that Pet Supplies Plus sucks, its the jackass staff they hired at that store that sucks.

Also its hard to believe they were 70 bucks, 99% of psp stores have the same vendors, and same prices. When I do occasionally bring a silver in, he cost 18.98 at 4+ inches.

I couldnt agree more, Its not the store per say, I would go with 90-10. The store has to take some of the blame due to the people that they hire. If you take some goofball off the street and hire him for your fish dept. just cause he had a goldfish when he was younger, the whole dept. will suffer. But, if you hire a more experienced person, the quality of everything goes up, just common sense. Ive dealt with some pretty knowledable people at PSP before, then theres some you just want to hit really really hard.;) oh well, what can ya do??
