My friend asked me a good question from which I don't have an answer, maybe someone here would know...

What does it mean when the arowana's barbels curl a bit?

curl? or do you mean like bent? any picture

one of my LFS owners is an arowana expert. he orders special foods for arowanas that come from taiwan. he's asian, himself. when selling me my arowana, he told me that arowanas with bent or curled barbels are not considered to be as valuable as those with straight barbels. he said that a trophy arowana with bent or curled barbels loses monitary value and sells for less. i don't know what technically or physiologically happens to allow for an arowana's barbels to bend or curl up, but i thought i'd give you the breeder's point of view on arowanas with damaged barbels.

yeah straight barbels look better, than bent, curled

I dont have a pic as its my friends aro with curled barbels I will call her and see if she has a pic or if she can tell me in detail if its bent or curled!

thanks for the breeders perspective on the barbels, very interesting indeed as I didn't know that. But then again the LFS by me is selling a high shine silver for $600 even though I told him it has drop eye! He looked at me like I was stooopid!

Gin, if you're looking I know a place where you can get high shines for the same price as a normal silver. PM me if you're interested.
