I have always wanted an arowana and last week i got the courage to buy one.
i found a 5 inch aro at my lfs and decided to put em my 120 gallon tank with my 2 oscars, they are about 3 to 4 inches in length. it was all cool till yesterday when i got home from work. i found both oscars taking turns beating up the aro, i was so mad at myself kinda knowing it would happen but hoping it didnt. as much as it hurt me i had to donate both oscars to a lfs close by my house. now im left with a beat up aro and a broken heart because i really miss the f-ing oscars! i can tell the arowana is in shock and hes not eating. can some one give me advice on how to cure him and get em back to normal?

thanks

Pristine water, add salt, keep lights off. Once the wounds heal the aro should be eating.

should i put him in a 10 gallon quarantine tank? i also have 4 other clown loach and 1 bichir .

hey tunerhead, thats bad mate. Just let him/her be in 120g. As Gshock says clear water, lots of aeration. If you give the aro feeders, quarantine and drop a few in there. Aros heal quick so he'll be up and about soon. Just give it time. and about the oscars.. very territorial thats prob why they beat up your aro.. you can always get oscars but aros are another thing.. cheers mate.. it'll be fine..

i would add Aquarium salt.. it helps with healing and also stress... sorry you had to give up your oscars..

you shouldnt have got rid of the o's so soon. when i put my aro in with the cichlids they wer attacking it, but after about 2 days the aro turned round and retaliated HARD. theyv never touched it since, swim away when the aro gets close. the aro healed really fast. I'd try and get your o's back if you can and see if things go ok for a while. aros are quite shy at first but they build up their confidence and as they grow, the other fish should leave it be. i agree with the others, nice clean water will help heal your aro fast

well i read all the comments and i agree with what everyone else said. just one thing what type of aro is it?
