Arowana Breeding Facilities for Afro, Black, Silver, Jar, and Lei

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Checked. And only found 2-3 named places for Silvers, Blacks, and Jars. And other than finding out that Leis are being bred, I still lack info on breeding facilities on these fish and haven't turned up much on the Afro.

That said, are there any facilities in the US? I know that Aros of various kinds are being bred in Asia, but I would just like to clarify on the US status. And anyone here have an idea if Afros are being bred? I recall seeing something from the "Confiscated Asian Aros are killed" thread that one guy was questioning why the US won't try having the Asian Aro bred there when they have done the African and others.

Just want some clarification and answers.

Just on the geographical tip, I don't see how equatorial species, could be cost effectively farm raised in the US, we are too far north...

I would think where the Arowana are native, you'd be able to better find farms...

Better yet start at you retailer, and trace it back, to the breeder...

I don't think LFS will give that info, because then we could go straight to the source instead of buying from them. I tried asking one time and got no answer, them knowledge greedy ba$!@?ds LOL

They have silaver and jar farm in the Philippinesi, but it's not really a farm just for becuase they breed flowerhorns too. CV Maju is an asian arowana farm that also breed arapaima, silver and jars. They also breed non-arowana fishes.

Australia has some breeding facilitis for aussies. Silvers are bred in Asia, also, as far as I underastand ( although never saw very much of an evidence about it ).

Blacks and Africans never heard of.

And yes, I believe some Jars are bred in the states. Saw a thread once...
