I might be getting a tub of some sort with the dimensions atleast 6'x3'x?. Is it even possible to succesfully breed Silver Arowana in captivity? Has it been done before? The tub would be in my garage, and i live in canada, so in winter it can get pretty cold here, so, i'm going to need a pretty strong heater, maybe a pond heater? Does anybody have any reccomendations? The tub would be filtered by a sump, the sump would be a 55 gallon drum filled with ceramic rings at the bottom, filter floss in the middle, and scrubbies on the top. How much arowana's would you guys put in this tub?

It's been done, Oddball has done it. I think one problem is forming a pair. You can buy just two aro and hope your lucky. Or you can get a group and house them for a few years until they are sexually mature and see if a pair develops. Either of the two scenarios are highly unlikely to be successful for the home aquarist though. Heck look how rare it is to even see a silver drop eggs, so certain conditions are going to be needed.

6'x3' footprint isn't even big enough for a single adult silver, let alone a breeding pair.

Thanks for the reply, i will PM odball for further details. I would buy a group, but i wouldn't want to keep them all, and where i live, not many people have large enough tanks to keep them.

x2, definitely going to need a bigger tank. You're probably going to run into a lot of trouble later if you start with big a group of silvers. It's almost impossible to even give them away for free right now.

That was an estimate of how large it would be, it could be 8'x4' i don't know..
