Just a few minutes ago I turned off the lights to go to bed then I quickly heard a loud splashing, I went over to check to see what happened and I saw that it was my silver arowana making all the noise and that his bottom jaw had skin hanging off of it and that one of his feeler things on his chin was broken (all on the same side). Do they get scared when the room quickly goes from light to dark? And will these both heal up like new?

Sometimes, it can. I don't think fish pupils react as quickly as ours, so they're dazzled for a little while.

Unless anything is horrible damaged, then the wounds should heal just fine.

I'm not so worried about the scales and scratches. It's the broken feeler thing I'm worried about.

Btw what exactly are those two things on their chin? I think they're for smelling but I never really looked it up and I'm curious

Now he found a small opening and jumped out of the tank. I caught him when he finished jumping around and out him back and covered all small openings with rocks. There is clearly something very wrong though because everytime the lights go out this happens.

Those are called barbells. If it's not damaged to the root, which in most cases it isnt, then it'll grow back pretty quickly.
