How much food is to much for a 22" jardini? Last night I fed him 7 large frozen market shrimp and he was still looking at me like he was wanting more. When I first got him on the shrimp, I struggled to feed him just 3.

....I am only feeding him once every 2-3 days.

That sounds like a good feeding rota. If you feed him too much he will get fat, and he could get drop eye.

shrimp has very little fat

in fact, you could get more fat in his diet. He'll need it to grow more and give him energy. The bulk of a big jars diet is fish, not insects. and fish have fat, and the biggest jars live on this diet. you dont have to feed live feeders but you get the idea.

and too much fat doesnt cause drop eye ;)

I agree with DeLgAdO, jar already have a hard chance to get DE plus fat is most likely not the cause. Should try to feed him a little more variety. Does he take pellets? I just feed mine Pellets and top it off with some shrimps as desert.

On the other hand, i feed mine till he doesn't want to eat anymore is that bad? Feed him once a day at night and he about 6inch.

I remember reading in another post that he is stuffing the shrimp with pellets, and also feeding earthworms. Variety seems to be there.

The question is about quantity, not variety.

True, but when come quantity come variety. We all want the best for our Arow so what come one has to come two and three and so forth.:headbang2

Mine also eat till he just see the food and grab it and wrestle with it and than let it sink to the ground, or he totally ignore it

Like rally said...I am stuffing the shrimp with Hikari pellets to help balance the diet. He doesn't seem to interested in to many other types of food that I have tried. He still won't just go up and eat pellets...yet. I really want to try and avoid feeders. Although, he has eaten a couple of my catfish and a rainbow.

But, the main question was just quantity. I just want to make sure I am not overfeeding him.

too fatty food can cause anus drop ( or whatever you call it ) I know I keep ranting about this but I know the months it took for her ( one of my Jars ) to get back to normal...
