Hello!
i just bought a pear jardini arowana yesterday and a spotted scat nipped all of his fins...just the tips of the fins are nipped so i am not worried about his stress level. i did take out the scat, but i was just wondering how long it will take for his fins to return to "normal"

Its an alpha thing. Once your jardini gets a little bigger, he'll kill everything in the tank and make it his. Cheers!

i am sure he wont because he is the smallest thing in the tank, i have 3 7 inch discus and i also have a 14 inch chocolate pleco...so yeah the discus hide in the plants and he is in a 250 semi planted tank...sorry to say...i know what im doing

Let's get this straight,

-you bought a JARDINI for a community tank with peaceful fish like discus.
-you think he wont end up killing everything because he's the smallest in the tank, FOR NOW. You do know Jardinis get around 30"right?
-you ask if his poor fins will ever grow back, they grow back if the water quality is good and if its eating well.

OBVIOUSLY you dont know what you are doing.

Relax man, don't be so reactive. People offering up advice are doing you a favor by sharing their knowledge and experience with you. If you want to succeed in this hobby you would be doing yourself a huge favor by listening to these people and taking their suggestions. I'm sure your attitude will change a bit when your expensive discus become expensive feeders for your Jardini.

Did YOU know that most
Jardinis only get to about 24" in captivity? Before you toss out numbers do some research;) Its apparent that you do not know what your talking about
He also asked how long it will take for them to grow back, not IF they will. Please dont be a bigot and misread information.

one other thing is that jardini's can be trained to take certain food. It has to be done from a young age, but they can be trained to "only like pellets". Arrows are EXTREMELY picky eaters in most cases and grow to favor one type of food. Also, maintaining a strict feeding regiment creates a schedule that the arrow is used to. This means that the fish will grow to depend on food at a certain time and will most likely be uninterested if the food is present at a different time.I have personally seen arrows in with tetras, discus, rainbow sharks, etc.The arrows never did anything to the fish and everything was perfect. There is always the chance that they will revert to eating live food, but if that is a risk that the owner is willing to take then so be it.

You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine. Im sure over 90% of the people on MFK would rather not have a troll on here that is going to do whatever they want even though they are asking for advice. Telling me to mature a bit is a bit hippocritical, when you could have taken your own advice and ignored my post as well. I do know that MOST S. jardinii grow to 24", but have seen a bigger one than that, even thought it was crammed in a 150. Someone was selling it on my local CL and i thought about buying it, but learned really how aggressive they are and decided not to get it.

We could of been a lil nicer here as he is new... We all got to start learning some how. Am pretty sure most of us didnt wake up and know everything about fish. It also angers me when am trying to learn and people just tell me you don't know your doing to my face without a chance.
To the guy asking the question, please dont harm your fish just bucuase one guy you think is beig a a-hole to you. Its not worth it to you or the fish. You just lost money and really nice fish.

I agree fully. I understand that people do make large mistakes that others who are more experienced consider stupid and talk to them like they're complete idiots. Some people on MFK seriously need to understand that people are here to learn and not be criticized. The initial responses given to the OP were completely unnecessary..
