So i bought a Silver Aro a few weeks ago. I love this little guy, The Lfs fed him feeders so naturally i followed their lead, now i want to switch over to Aro sticks and blood worms, and other floating foods. I have heard stories of Aro's getting to used to feeders so that when you try to switch their food they just either starve to death or switch. I was wondering if there is any truth to these stories.

How big is your silver?

Something you can try is to have other fish that will eat pellets/bloodworms/aro sticks in the same tank. The aro may learn to associate them with food quicker and switch over immediately.

I have not heard of aros starving to death, but indeed it is a possibility, and in that case have feeders ready. I'm not quite sure how long you would have to wait before giving in, but I personally wouldn't starve it for longer than 2-3 days for juveniles. Good luck.

Hes around 6-7 inches he nipped at some floating pellets but quickly spit them out.

6-7 inches he should be munching out, keep trying to feed him the floating pellets. it might take him about a week to notice its food, i would stop feeding feeders asap imo.

May be a dumb question but the only food he seems to look at is some floating pellets for my small Oscar is this not good for him to eat its called Hakiri brand cichlid gold

I've read others have fed aros thy same pellet type.
You might need to fast the aro.
Aro pellets are a complete diet besides insects.
Everything else is supplements.

Not sure what you mean.
Just starve the Aro till i gte the sticks or what?

Just starve until your aro will take whatever you want to feed it. Even though pellets are supposed to be manufactured to fulfill all needs of the fish, it's still a better idea to have a variety to feed. In the end, it is impossible for the pellets to have everything in them.

It could take longer than that, it took mine 2.5-3 weeks to start eating pellets, and I have heard of some aros taking up to 2 months to start accepting pellets.

No, cichlid gold is actually very good for them, I feed my silver aro Hikari cichlid gold and frozen krill.
