I recently bought a Silver Arowana. I put it in my 75g to grow out some. It was very outgoing and ate really well and would approach me when ever I came up to the tank and would wait for me to feed it. He grew quickly to almost 12".

For the last week or so, all it does durring the day is hide behind a rock at the bottom and just sit there. It still eats when i put food that will float down to the bottom, but never swims close to the surface like he use to do all the time. At night when most of the lights are off in the house, he swims around like normal. :screwy:

My water quality is great...I made sure of that. It has as a mall tinfoil barb and a pleco as tankmates.

Has anyone expereinced this with their arow? Do you think it will grow out of this or do I have a more skitish than average arow?:screwy:

I wouldnt worry about it too much as long as hes eating. It seems that this is not too uncommon among silvers.

One of my aros does that every once and a while. Usually after a large meal. Don't worry about it.

They go through mood swings IME. He should snap out of it.

How big is your tank? One of the other members here was talking about something simular to that but was in a smaller tank grow out tank. Once put in the larger tank it was much happier. Also, is there alot of free open space for the aro to swim in? Try freeing up some space and see if this helps the aro snap out of the funk hes in.

He's in a 75 gallon right now. Trying to get him to around 16-18" before I put him with my larger fish in a 180g. He has plenty of room to swim around.

Thanks for the comments everyone. It's reassuring to know this behavior is common with others experiences.
