Silver 100% mine looks just like that.

Im no expert but i wouldnt be 100 either way he would be old enough to lose alot of the black but i do see some darker colors on his fins where then should be so...could be either.
Its a silver. Blacks do not get the pinkish color. Here is an image of a black and silver next to each other. Look to be around the size of your fish.

Go back to whoever is selling that fish and tell him to go eff himself. Telling you that is a black. Fish is 100% silver.
Unfortunately you can't take some LFS on their word as they'll put names on fish to make them sound cool or mislead the uninformed - rampant in the marine hobby. Juvies of some species are harder to distinguish so it's best to have something in writing or they may say afterwards that they never said it was that.
