Hello, I am not going to ask how to ressussitate my arowana. I had a figure eight puffer that died yesterday and by the time i pulled it out it may have been in the water for about 2 hours. Last night, I look at my tank and I see my 10" silver arowana swimming around the bottom of the tank and his body is black/ gun metal and his fins look like stripes of orange and black. He was swimming around the rocks on the bottom of my tank which only happens when he is scared like when i am moving things in the tank. This morning I woke up with my arowana stuck to my filter. Is this a result of the puffer fish? Is the figure 8 puffer poisonous when dead because I dont want any other fish to die. My arowana was in great shape before this so I cant pin any disease he could have had. if anyone as had this happen before or can help me find out how to prevent another death.
P.S the other fish in the tank (Clown knife, Sengal bichir, black knife...) all looked fine last night and today so no harm to them (Yet?)

Thank You

What are your ammonia and nitrite levels?

Dead fish release a LOT of ammonia. Anytime you have a dead fish in the tank an immediate water change is in order.

Definitely do a water change, but depending on the size of the tank, a dead fish for only a couple hours shouldn't spike the ammonia. That usually doesn't happen until the carcass is deteriorating.

Anyway, having two healthy fish up and suddenly die indicates there is a big problem with your water parameters. I would do a water test, do a largish water change, and do another water test.

Keep an eye on those other fish!

firstly what you did wrong is keep a figure 8 puffer with those fishes... that puffer is a brackish water fish and anyways you took the risk of your aro eating the puffer and dieing as well..first of all make a water change and tell us how big your tank is what are your water parameters...

Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH. Test all of those.

And how big is your clown knife? Because they CAN harrass other fish. He may have made your arow run into the side of the tank really hard or something.

2 healthy fish died in 2 days.
i'd say the chance that 1 death is caused by the other is less likely than possible water problem.
either cause, you still have to do the same thing to resolve: water change

Just to repeat everyone elses opinion, check all your parameters and do a water change.

Have you added any new fish lately that could have introduced diseases????
