what would be an acceptable side height for a pond to keep arowana without a lid? im planning to rebuild the lower section of my indoor pond and i would like to keep aro's in it. still all preplanning.

Silver Aro? A "full size" Silver Aro can jump aprox 6-8' high going by the Amazon Video I saw of one eating an insect off of a tree branch. I would keep a net over it or some kind of covering unless you want your Aro to be found on the floor one day!

i think ul need a really high pond O_O

Get one of those trampoline nets that keep kids in and mount it on the side? just an idea. I swapped tanks a few days ago and my 7 inch silver jumped out of a 55 and there was only an inch of water in it ( gave me a new appreciation for its ability to jump) With that said, it's my understanding that larger well fed aro's jump less. The lfs up the street from me has a 18" aro in a pond with no height and they say they have had no problems with jumping. I personally think it's because they are less skittish when they get larger. Just my .02

they can and will jump at any age at any height for no darn reason... maybe not for a year but then the next... it is a moody unpredictable fish with a mind of his own... with an arow you need always be one step ahead of anything they might do... if they might they eventually will.... i lost my 30 inch arow just because one day he decided to take a leap.. my 29 INCH just SAILED out during a water change the other night.. he is okay... because we were right there to put him back and lucky he did not break his back as so many do...

i would like to get a few that live in a community, preferably black. but i dont want to put a lid on it. hmm maybe i grow them out to 12" in my 90 2 at a time, then just have a 1 foot wall around the outside. if i have to i guess ill just net over the top.
