Arowana killer

Arowana's shrink back in fear when I enter the pet store. I've Killed six already. I have stopped for now, but will kill again soon.
I have all kinds of fish. Red tail cats, Oscars, other ciclids (yes, angels).I have polypterus, loaches, barbs, tetras, Red tail sharks, bala's, rainbows, smallmouth bass, poximids. I have a few.
My fish are healthy. Their tanks are clean. Their amonia, nitrate and nitrite levels are < measurable.
So why do I kill arowanas?????
I tried different temps. 78, 80, 85.
This is what happens. They are fine for a week or two. Then for no apparent reason. they quit eating.
DEAD IN ONE TO THREE DAYS
I did manage to revive one by force feeding it, but a week later the death cycle started again.
STOP ME BEFORE I KILL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

how big are you getting them? maybe look for something 8"+ as they are hardier than little ones.

very odd that you have lost so many what did you feed them.....when you get a new one feed it "San Francisco Bay Brand" Freeze Dried Plankton

good advice though.

plankton!!!Good idea. brine shrimp, and peices of freeze dried krill seem to be attractive to them, but maybe not so good for the digestive tract.

biggest one was, five inches. others were not much more than fry.

I'll need a little more imput than that. I do think the plankton idea has merit. but do you really think it was death by brine shrimp. The larger one even ate a few flies. What do they do in the wild??

settle down there mr. it takes time for people to find threads sometimes.


i would suggest you go buy a larger one. dont start with fry or babies. obviously you cant take care of them and consider yourself a lunatic....
