Hey there,

I just got my first Arowana (a black that is pink and blue right now, about eight inches). My question is what type of lighting should I use to best bring out these colors? I have a generic florescent light right now and although I'm sure there's something better, I'm just too inexperienced to know. I also know that if I ask at the fish store they'll just try to sell me something ridiculously expensive!

I'd use plain ol simple 6500k white bulb to bring out natural colors.
Not a big fan of NAN lights and such..
Whatever floats your boat. Remember, you have to see it everyday; we don't :D

i really like the Powerglo 18,000k lights. brings out all the colors in fish. makes me silver aro look awesome! :)

With my aro I find that minimal lighting is the way to go. I use a 24" basic tank light (came with a topfin complete setup) in the middle of my 48" tank and the dimness actually brings out the pink in my silver better than any fancy light I have used with him. The fish also appreciates it more.

This is with a 20watt/20,000K bulb on a 29gallon

the light I use in my aro tank was a submersible 3color flourescent, but I hang it on top of the lid. The color is blue red and green, cool how it devide the light destribution in the tank.
