Hi guys I need your help to crack my problem with my arowana he loss his appetite for 10 months now he started in a 3 ft tank with 2 5inches IT then I sell my 2 IT after that I started to notice that he is losing his appetite it will just eat 1-2 SW or cricket or small chunk of MP then it will not eat for weeks the longest is 3-4weeks without food water parameters are in tip top. He is now in 5ftx2.5ftx2.5ft with 2 stingray 2 clown loaches and a 2 inches IT for 5mos. now and he still like that just eat once small amount then no food for few days 5-7days. And he's been like this everytime and he normally swimming around and everytime I will try to feed him he looks hungry but once you drop the food he will either ignore it or take it then spit out until he will be really hungry then will take one or two then stop again.
Hope you can help me guys.

Many thanks.

He's tag date is 2013 and small for his age.

My arowana is a Jardini and had similar behavior, but for a much shorter timeframe. I received a shipment of the arowana and some silver dollars to grow out together. After a few months, I noticed him chasing and biting the silver dollars. Of course I separated them, after a short time feeding decreased and skittish behavior developed while alone. I moved the arowana to the bigger tank with the silver dollars and feeding resumed on the first day. My Jardini must be an odd one because he enjoys tank mates to this day. If there was to be a mass killing I think it should have occurred by now since he's over a foot long. I'm still watching for it with mine, but maybe you can try a few more tank mates to get it feeding again. In the mean time, feed him whatever is preferred to keep weight up and good health.

Thank you for sharing your experience..

For its tag date it is a little undersized but there are gold aros that don't grow very big due to many circumstances. However, it does have a little bulk to it judging by the pic. As you mentioned, the fish is active so there is not a lot to be concerned at this juncture. Perhaps you can try small frogs or bee shrimps to see if that will stimulate its appetite.

Change of tank mates / environment or even lighting etc externally can affect aros. Be patient, maintain proper water chemistry and importantly observe the aro for any abnormal behaviours and things should be all right.

Yes your right bro the body build as you can see is like he eats normal but he's been like this as I mentioned nearly a year now that's why I'm a bit prostrated I don't normally put light and he just transferred from 3-5 ft tank that was in thought before the tank is too small for him but 5mos after transfer him and put some tankmates he is still the same.
Many thanks for your thoughts.
