Hii
I have a silver arowana which is nearly 10 inches.
He lives in a 4ft tank and he has no tank mates.
The water condition is good and I change water every week for about 20% .
Recently I wanted to start given him frozen prawns has fresh Market prawns near my home is very costly.
I cleaned the prawns and also smashed them a bit so that they won't be to hard to eat .
When I feed them he puts them in his mouth tries to chew but he then spits them out .
I used to give him dried shrimp , mealworms and some times small roaches and feeder guppies .
Can someone give me a solution because he oly doesn't eat frozen prawns but accepts mealworms and dried shrimp .
Should I Starve him for some days if so for how many day's or is there any other solution .
Thanks in advance

Perhaps the prawn that you offer are simply too big for the aro to handle?....try cutting the prawn or select a smaller size.

Yes bro I do cut the prawns small enough to fit his mouth ...even tho he doesn't

Yes I have tried those too....even after 2 weeks starving he didn't eat the pellets ...he does the same thing takes in mouth chews a bit and throws it out

Sometimes it can take up to a month before the fish starts to eat. So, you may want to relax a bit as long as the fish doesn't show extreme signs of stress. I have changed from fresh market prawns to frozen one too for the same reasons, costs.

What I do is I'll wait for the prawn to thaw completely in a bowl of water I keep changing before cutting them up with a scissor. Personal experience is it will eventually eat, but this process can be sped up if your aro has tank mates who will eat the frozen prawn.

Stubborn fellow indeed.I would be more concerned with getting it onto good quality pellets than shrimp or prawn....overall better nutrition.

Yes bro I do the same process I atleast thaw the prawns for atleast 10min....then cut them to small pieces smash them up and also remove the small intestine of the prawns which is in the centre.
Ok bro I'll keep on trying daily..it just needs to get used it I guess..... I'll try to stave for few days and give him.
Thank you both for the reply.
If u guys know any other suggestions pls drop in

Yes he stubborn for the day I brought him(he was 4 inches).... didn't eat for a 15 days when he came 1st time home.
I am trying pellets that to if he accepts I have no probs ... atleast if he starts eating prawns I'll mix the pellets with prawns and give him.
