Hi

My australian arowana has not eaten anything for almost two weeks. I changed the water two weeks ago and it was not changed for about 3 months before. I changed about 10-12%max. After i added some aquarium salt. Few days later i saw it gagged out some food.

A week later, i changed the water again but this time only 5-10%. I added Melafix to aquarium. It ate some food the other day but again not anymore and is "swaggling" (not sure if it's a word) near the top of the tank and the nose is barely below water. It doesn't swim too strong and not level because the tail sags. What should i do?

Thanks for the help.

If you didn't change your water for 3 months I would say that poor water quality your cause. Get a test kit and let us know what your pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels are.

Take a sample to test later and do a 50% water change asap. Changing water will never hurt unless you don't dechlor or the temp is way off.

5-10% water changes are pointless, go big or don't bother. Melafix is useless too and could even make things worse. Do large water changes every day and see if you see improvement.
